Prayers from First Communion Sunday, Advent 2004
Prayers written by children in the communion preparation group – Advent 2004
God bless our happy, friendly church, its leaders and helpers. Thank you for the ringing bells, the organ and choir and our carol singing around the village. Thank you for the ring of daffodils, cherry blossom, church flowers, leafy graveyard and pretty weddings. Thank you for the wooden mice, and the harvest festival. Thank you for the travelling crib. Thank you God for making things happen at our church.
God bless Andrew and his family, the Bishop who confirmed Rebecca’s daddy, and all the people who worship at St. Peter’s Addingham.
Dear God, please look after the people in our church and all people all over the world in different churches. Please take care of them in all they do.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
God, please help us to live in peace and have no war and help poor people. Dear God, thank you for our wonderful world. Please help us to look after it. We are sorry we sometimes spoil your creation.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Dear God, we thank you for being friendly and nice to us. We thank you for our families, friends and neighbours. God bless all those we love. Take care of them and don’t let them be hurt or injured.
Dear God, please look after my family. Please help me to get back to being friends when I have had a quarrel. Please bless our grandparents because they are very old.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Dear God, thank you for taking care of me. I am so lucky. Please help all the people who are suffering because they are hungry, sad, poor or lonely.
We pray for those who are being bullied and those from families where parents are splitting up.
We pray for all who are ill to be healed. We pray for people who are in hospital and we thank you for the doctors and nurses who are helping the ill and suffering.
God, please could you help those who are in pain and those who are close to death.
Dear Lord, we pray for all the people who are in need of love and care. This is why we pray to you, to bless all the people who are suffering. Please help them in all ways and encourage them.
