Healing Service on the first Thursday of each month, 8 p.m.

These ecumenical services are open to all comers. They are a chance to pray for the people we are especially concerned about, ourselves included, and to stop worrying about what WE can do and to ask instead what GOD can do. There is no need for us to inform God what the situation is - he knows already, and he loves those we love even more than we do. We believe that, somehow, he is able to use our love for the good of those we love.

The healing services are simple and quiet. Hymns are sung and the Bible is read. Those who wish to pray for healing for themselves or for others, come to the front of the church, give the names of those for whom they ask for prayers, and hands are placed on their heads by the minister while prayers are said. The prayers are for healing of body, mind and spirit.

God's answers - whether miracles, support from loving friends, physical regeneration, medical intervention, mental calm in the face of fear, spiritual assurance, a sense of sins forgiven, or courage to endure pain and anguish - are beyond anything for which we might ask or hope, and we have his promise to be with us even in and through our bitterest suffering and grief.

We cannot measure how you heal or answer every sufferer's prayer,

Yet we believe your grace responds where faith and doubt unite to care...

... Lord, let your Spirit meet us here to mend the body, mind and soul,

To disentangle peace from pain and make your broken people whole.
